The 133 rooms and suites are decorated in shades of brown and all include air-conditioning, mini-fridges, microwaves, and free Wi-Fi; some have balconies. There's both indoor and outdoor swimming pools and hot tubs, as well as a small fitness center. The restaurant serves traditional American cuisine and a free continental buffet breakfast. Business travelers can make use of the meeting and conference center; along with business facilities. It's worth checking out Yosemite Southgate Hotel & Suites, which has slightly cheaper rates and some renovated rooms, though no on-site restaurant.
Chain hotel with mountain views and a nature theme
Set on large grounds, the Best Western Plus Yosemite Gateway Inn is a tranquil resort that offers a relaxing retreat. There's a strong mountain and natural trend in the decor throughout the hotel, starting with two large bear statues at the entrance and leading to a two-story lobby with stacked stone walls and a waterfall. The restaurant has an old-fashioned feel to it, with faux-granite tables and busily patterned carpeting. The center fireplace does bring a cozy atmosphere during the winter months. Brown is a dominant color throughout the hotel; the color is found in much of the carpeting, furniture, and in the artwork.
Outside areas provide mountain views from a kidney-shaped outdoor swimming pool and hot tub. For the colder months, there's also an indoor swimming pool and hot tub. With the meeting and conference facilities available, the hotel caters to business travelers. However, the majority of guests are couples and families who are in Oakhurst to visit the nearby Yosemite Park and area attractions.
Situated in a scenic mountain setting; a 30-minute drive to Yosemite South Gate
Situated on a forested hill surrounded by tall oak trees, Best Western Plus Yosemite Gateway Inn has a scenic mountain setting in Oakhurst. Sitting just off Highway N1, there are several fast food chains within walking distance from the hotel. It's also conveniently located within driving distance to many popular tourist sites in the area, most popular being the south entrance to the Yosemite National Park, which is a 30-minute drive from the hotel. Fresno Flats Historic Village and Park, which provides a snapshot of what life was like in the 19th Century in the Sierra Nevada foothills, is only a five-minute drive from the hotel. There's fishing, boating, and skiing at Bass Lake, a nine-minute drive away. River Creek Golf Course is a 10-minute drive and Sierra Meadows Ranch Golf Course a 12-minute drive from the hotel. It's about an hour's drive to Fresno Yosemite International Airport.
Brown guest rooms with air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and mini-fridge
The 133 guest rooms and suites at Best Western Plus Yosemite Gateway Inn offer the basic amenities for a comfortable stay. All of the rooms follow a generic theme, with standard furniture and limited decor -- with exception of a large nature painting covering the walls behind the beds. The dominant color throughout all rooms is brown, with dark brown carpeted flooring, dark brown wood furniture, and brown bed covers, cushions, and curtains that make the rooms seem dark. Guest rooms come in Queen, Two Queen, King, and Two King variants; with suites accommodating for more guests with either three or four beds per suite. All rooms include air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, microwaves, tea- and coffee-making facilities, desks, and free Wi-Fi. Some rooms include balconies, with either garden or mountain views. En-suite bathrooms are quite dated with long granite vanities and shower/tub combos covered via a fabric curtain. Hairdryers and Aromae toiletries are provided.
Indoor and outdoor swimming pool, restaurant, lounge, and fitness center
Features are focused on tourists and convenience. The Yosemite Gateway Restaurant serves traditional American cuisine, including steak, pasta, and seafood; as well as free continental buffet breakfast. The Yosemite Gateway Lounge serves appetizers and drinks; including a large selection of whiskeys. For the summer months, there's an outdoor swimming pool and hot tub, though the pool area is quite small with limited sun loungers available. The indoor heated swimming pool and spa with hot tubs are a welcoming retreat after a day out in the snow during the winter months. There's also a fitness center, though no other sporting facilities. Souvenirs are for sale in the on-site gift shop. There's 1,500 square feet of flexible meeting, event, and conference space available; along with business facilities. Free parking is available, with plenty of space to park right outside guest rooms. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. This is also a pet-friendly property, but there are weight restrictions and a daily fee.
