Placencia, Belize
Belize, a small country in Central America that shares a border with Mexico and Guatemala, is known for its lush rainforests and Mayan ruins. But it's most famous for its snorkeling and scuba diving, which are among the best in the world: The barrier reef off shore is second only to the Great Barrier Reef off Australia, and visitors can see turtles (both green and leatherback), nurse sharks, stingrays, and a variety of tropical fish. For those who just want to kick back on the sand, the stunning white sand beaches and shaded areas will suit them just fine. Here are just a few of our favorite beaches in Belize, each one with so much to offer! Chabil Mar is located along the 26-mile-long Placencia Peninsula in southeastern Belize. The beach along Placencia Peninsula is known for fine white sand and calm blue water. Due to rain, the summer season may bring seaweed wash, but the groundskeepers clean the beach daily.
